Malachite

Malachite

Malachite is a mineral belonging to the carbonate family known since ancient times. It is important to know that malachite is essentially composed of copper carbonate. It is therefore quite easy to find it on all continents, as it is often found in copper veins and mines. Its luster ranges from translucent to opaque.

It is highly regarded for its appearance and for the various shades of green it takes on. A single malachite stone can contain different veins ranging from light green to blackish, this is the secret of its unique and attractive appearance.

Malachite is a stone with an average hardness between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs scale. Relatively easy to scratch, and highly soluble in acid, one must be doubly vigilant to maintain the inimitable brilliance of the stone.

The most notable deposits of malachite are scattered around the world. Countries like Brazil, Colombia, United States, Australia, Namibia, Russia and France are among the countries that produce the most beautiful and amazing stones.

History of Malachite

The discovery of malachite is as old as human civilization. The discovery of copper naturally led to the discovery of malachite, as is often found in the desert mines of the Middle East, the cradle of civilizations. The green color reminiscent of lush green forests was largely responsible for its success with ancient civilizations accustomed to the harshness of the desert.

Etymologically, the origin of the term malachite is rather controversial. The word derives from the Latin malachite, which in turn derives from the ancient Greek moloche, and derives from malaché, which means the Mallow plant. The choice of this name by the Ancients would have been attributed to the similarities between the green of the malachite and that of the leaves of the Mallow. This explanation is not convincing for some who have advanced the thesis that the origin of the name of the stone is rather malakos which means "soft" in ancient Greek. The explanation would be plausible especially when we know that this name could refer to the low hardness of the stone.

In any case, malachite was indeed present in the greatest civilizations. It would have been the subject of various uses ranging from medical practice to decoration and even cosmetics.

The medicinal virtues of malachite have been known since the dawn of time. Its reputation as a pain reliever stone has made it very popular with connoisseurs. Ideal for fighting infections, malachite is especially beneficial for vulnerable and frail people. It would even be very suitable for countering the threats that threaten women and children.

Since time immemorial, the anti-inflammatory properties of malachite have been used to relieve various pains such as osteoarthritis, cramps, hemorrhoids, colic, dental pain, etc ... Although they were not yet aware of the existence of bacterial infections, the Ancients knew that the Application of malachitis to conjunctivitis, ear infections or tonsillitis tended to speed up the patient's healing process. The soothing virtues of malachite also include the alleviation of anxiety, seizures and nervous tension. The revitalizing action of the stone purifies the blood, tones the heart and blood circulation, strengthens the immune system and improves cell regeneration.

On an emotional and sentimental level, malachite helps to effectively counter the fears and pains of love. Its relaxing power reduces stress and tension for a better harmony of body and mind. Favorable for the communication of sensations and feelings, the stone acts deeply on the emotional state of the person. Considering the power of malachite, careful use is highly recommended to manipulate the stone in therapy.

On a spiritual level, malachite acts as a protective energy shield against negative energies. Its filtering power will avoid contamination of the aura by negative vibrations. Malachite acts on different chakras, stimulating and toning their energy flows. However, the heart chakras and the solar plexus chakras are the ones that benefit most from the beneficial action of malachite.

Any therapeutic use of malachite necessarily implies a purification, due to the powerful absorbing power of the stone. The demineralized water should do the trick as long as the malachite is not soaked in the liquid for too long. Above all, avoid using salt during this operation. To recharge malachite, it is best to use soft moonlight or morning sunlight.
